What are dental implants?
Dental implants are a time-tested method for replacing a tooth, often colloquially referred to as a “peg” or “snap-in tooth.” The advantage of dental implants is the ability to create fixed dental prostheses without the need to grind down or devitalize natural teeth. The dental implant itself (acting as an artificial root) is screw-shaped with external and internal threads, and is made from titanium and zirconia with a special surface treatment.
We recommend watching the series of videos below, which describe solutions for individual cases:
Why choose dental implants at Smart Dental?
An advantage of our clinics in Poprad and Bratislava is that both brothers, Marián and Ján Tulenka, have specialized in dental surgery and implantology for years. More complex procedures involving bone augmentation are performed jointly. This means you benefit from two pairs of skilled hands and eyes. For treatment planning, we utilize the latest 3D diagnostics. We can address the loss of a single tooth, multiple teeth, or even complete tooth loss. We stand by our work, which is why we are among the few in Slovakia to offer a 5-year warranty on dental implants.
Which dental implants are the best?
For maximum aesthetic and functional effect, we use premium dental implants from the Swiss company Straumann. The quality of their products is backed by decades of experience, continuous research and development, and, most importantly, long-term clinical studies. The Neo Biotech implant system is a high-quality solution for clients seeking a favorable balance between quality and price.

What is the procedure for creating a crown supported by a dental implant?
The procedure is divided into four phases: consultation, dental implant placement, healing, and crown fabrication.
Phase 1: Consultation
We fully respect your right to information, which is why the dental implant placement procedure is preceded by a thorough consultation and initial examination, including X-ray and 3D diagnostics.
We will endeavor to describe your current condition, jointly evaluate possible alternatives and solutions, outline the procedure, timeline, and cost of the treatment. We will gladly answer all your questions. Once definitively agreed upon, we will schedule an appointment for the dental implant placement.
Phase 2: Dental Implant Placement
Before this procedure, the quality and volume of the bone into which the dental implant will be placed are always assessed. Under favorable conditions and with sufficient bone, the procedure is relatively quick, absolutely painless, and the actual placement of a single dental implant takes no more than 30 minutes.
In cases of insufficient bone, it is necessary to augment the bone (using bone substitute material), which is often possible during the implant placement itself. We understand that dental implant placement can evoke apprehension or even fear in most clients, which is why it is crucial for us to ensure the procedure is painless and performed under local anesthesia in the most pleasant and calm atmosphere possible.
Phase 3: Healing
Healing typically takes 2 to 3 months, depending on the type of dental implant. During the healing period, a process called osseointegration occurs, where the implant surface is colonized by the body's own bone cells, and the implant literally fuses with the bone.
This period is approximately 2-3 months (if bone augmentation is performed, this time may be extended), after which a prosthetic abutment with a crown or bridge can be placed on the implant. In ideal cases (sufficient bone, non-smoking client, and no systemic diseases), the probability of implant non-integration is a maximum of 2%, as confirmed by clinical studies. Allergy or other intolerance to titanium has not been recorded to date. If an implant does not primarily “osseointegrate,” it can be easily removed and replaced with a new one, which has a high success rate of integration.
The implant is covered with a healing abutment (which passes through the gum and shapes it) or a temporary crown.
Phase 4: Crown Fabrication on the Dental Implant
After successful integration, an impression of the implant's position is taken. A significant advantage is that we have our own dental laboratory and a skilled dental technician, Tibor, who is present during the various stages of crown fabrication on the dental implant when needed. Within 7 days, the crown or bridge on the implants is fabricated.
The crown or bridge is screwed directly onto the implant (if necessary, the prosthetic work can be removed and adjusted at any time). After successful fabrication and delivery of the prosthetic restoration, it is essential to maintain good oral hygiene and attend regular check-ups. Neglecting hygiene increases the risk of implant non-integration or even rejection, despite initial successful healing.
What is the cost of dental implants?
The cost of dental implant placement varies individually for each patient; transparency is our top priority.
